Texas Instruments in HDTV deal with Shanghai Interactive Television - report
SHANGHAI (AFX) - Texas Instruments Inc (TI), the market leader in the US micro-display market, plans to fund production for Shanghai Interactive Television (SiTV) in order to help popularize high-definition TV in China, the Shanghai Daily reported citing company officials.
The paper said the Dallas-based chip maker signed an agreement with SiTV on Sunday to promote HDTV in the city and eventually nationwide.
The agreement provides a framework for a strategic partnership between TI and SiTV, starting off with promotional road shows and later in content development, it said citing said Eric Braddom, Texas Instrument’s Asia director for digital light processing (DLP) products.
The cooperation may involve funding for SiTV productions, he said. But first, Braddom told the paper he wants Chinese consumers to become acquainted with the company’s DLP HDTV technology.
